Congratulations! You have a fully working, fully automated solution. Now what could go wrong? Well, what if that great solution was not used by anyone? Then your new system adds no value.
Here are five steps to drive user adoption:
1. Keep the staff engaged throughout the process.
2. Train the staff on the solution and how it will help them.
3. Create a feedback loop in the solution to receive real-time feedback.
4. Create a What’s New area so the staff can keep up with the enhancements, and who’s sending them in.
5. Track utilization daily.
All of these steps are critical to follow. Choosing to skip any one of them will lead to failure. There will be times when you’ll need to incent usage. Prizes and contests are a great way to kickstart user adoption.
The first 45 days from launch at a site are critical. Without buy-in and creating a daily habit to use the solution, the program will fail. If this happens, you’ll need to start again at step one.
Stay with it, and create a plan for how your rollout will happen.
